Honoring Ingrid’s memory and talent

Ingrid Trinka was a wonderful gal that joined our group with her poetry. She was working on a collection of her work. I asked her to share a couple of poems for all of us to enjoy. Ingrid was home-bound and she spent a great deal of her time writing and doing online animal charity support. Ingrid has passed and we honor her creative mind and loving soul. Her words will never be forgotten.

Ingrid’s first poem won first place in the Kansas Author’s Contest and her second won a first place in Free Verse Poetry — Relax and enjoy!

a fisher of compliments

hooker of men

with lists of accomplishments

linen-grey thin

catch looks in the mirror

as time shadows by

cobwebs of satin smiles

trail from your eye

the quicksilver cowboys

they spent all your youth …..

and you, the chameleon

lay blinded by truth

fish again, cynthia

the water is clear

but you, with your memories

see only the fear

reflected in cobwebs

that trail satin smiles

thin-grey accomplishments

mirrored in miles

 at the clinic

the keeper

of the blood and white colored sheets

quickly exchanges one for another;

life and death are on the line

those present are required

to write an essay

in twenty five words or less

all this dying

saline laps at the mouths

of those yet unborn

unsuspecting, they open wide

embryo memories churn through

the spin cycle and on out the drain

and the keeper

of the blood and white colored sheets

simply says ‘next’
